LIFELINE VACANCIES

LIFELINE PROJECT

Lifeline Prison Team, North West

 The Prison Service North West Area works in partnership with local community substance misuse services to ensure that all those prisoners requiring treatment, care and support have access to a range of innovative and effective interventions whilst in custody. A major plank of the Government’s drug strategy is the reduction of drug related crime through effective treatment to drug misusing offenders. Prison can offer an opportunity to start the treatment journey.
The Integrated Drug Treatment System is being rolled out in seventeen prisons in England. This new intervention aims to enhance multidisciplinary teams, integrating Clinical and CARAT Service Interventions for offenders entering prison.
Lifeline Project has a national and international reputation for providing effective interventions for substance misusers and their families. Lifeline is the largest provider of services to drug users in prisons nationally and provides a wide range of community based services from the Tyne to the Thames. Our aim is to try and reduce any physical, mental or social harm caused by drug use.

 The provision of Care, Assessment, Referral, Advice and Throughcare Services (CARAT) is a fundamental part of the Prison Service drug treatment framework and offers a consistent means of working with prisoners with drug problems.
This Tier 2/3 intervention aims to:
• identify & assess the needs of drug misusing prisoners when they enter prison;
