Alcohol and Models of care
The National Treatment Agency (NTA) has been tasked to draw up a “Models of Care framework” for alcohol treatment services, drawing on the alcohol element of the existing Models of Care framework. In partnership with other stakeholders the NTA will develop guidance within the Models of care framework on integrated care pathways for people in vulnerable circumstances, such as people with mental illness, rough sleepers, drug users and some young people.
NTA and the Healthcare Commission
In partnership with the Healthcare Commission*, the NTA will monitor the quality of treatment services subject to the formulation of suitable criteria and the Healthcare Commission’s workload capability.
* Healthcare Commission is the short name for the Commission for Healthcare Audit and Inspection, created by the Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards) Act (2003). It began operation on 1 April 2004, replacing the Commission for Health Improvement (CHI), the healthcare part of the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) and the NHS national value for money aspects of the Audit Commission’s remit.
